Greener packaging
More sustainable with each step.
For us, protecting the environment is a given. We are constantly working on keeping our environmental footprint as low as possible by putting our product packaging under the microscope.
Amber glass pots: greener and better.
Same contents, different pot: We are now packaging our Lip Balm, Eye Balm and Clarifying Clay Mask in a new amber glass pot. The amber-coloured glass is just as good at protecting the precious contents from damaging UV rays as the previous opaline glass pots. Amber glass has a number of key benefits: it protects the product fully, it is more recyclable, and it contains 52% recycled glass.
In October 2024, the first amber glass pots with lids made of 95% recycled material (PCR) will be available.
Droppers: economical and clean.
We're making our packaging design more sustainable. That’s why we're saying goodbye to a few design elements and swapping our platinum-coloured droppers for white ones. The new droppers require around 35% less material, and the sleeve is made of 95% recycled material. The total recycled content of the dropper, including all material components, amounts to over 36%, or 3.27 g. This means we're not just saving precious raw materials, but also giving Dr. Hauschka packaging a sustainable and clean look.
From spring 2025, our Neem Nail & Cuticle Oil and Clarifying Day Oil will be available with the new, plain white dropper.
Lotion pumps: precious contents with a clean design.
For a more sustainable packaging design and a clean look, we’re replacing the platinum-coloured aluminium sleeve on our lotion pumps with a white plastic sleeve made from recycled material. The total recycled content of the pump is 45%, while the sleeve has a recycled content of 98%. We may be saving materials, but we're not compromising on quality: The new lotion pumps can also be locked to prevent products from leaking during transportation or when travelling.
Our glass bottles will come with the new lotion pumps from spring 2025.
Package inserts: less is more.
We will be cutting down as much as possible on our usual package inserts in the future. We will only provide paper inserts with products that absolutely require explanation. For all other products, initial application instructions can be found on the product packaging, while additional tips, recommendations and information about ingredients can be found on the Dr. Hauschka websites. This will help us save around 10 tonnes of paper per year—and a whole lot of energy, water and CO2.
